Research and practical conference “Intensive Respiratory Therapy”

The lecturers were Eduard Nikolaenko, Ph.D., Professor, Head of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Center of Russian Railways and Andrey Yaroshetskiy, Ph.D., Head of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department of the Scientific Research Institute of Clinical Surgery of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU).

The program of the conference covered a range issues which are one or another way associated with artificial pulmonary ventilation – a method of respiratory support in in severely ill patients. The speakers presented the reports on current issues “Pulmonary mechanics as a basis for parameters selection for artificial pulmonary ventilation”, “Respiratory exchange and methods of its assessment”, “Respiratory of hypoxemic acute respiratory failure in 2018” and many others.

“Artificial pulmonary ventilation itself is used for a long time and seems to be well studied, but nowadays new devices with artificial intelligence and new modes appear at the market, as well as the approaches to the management of patients with severe pulmonary pathology are changing. Therefore, it is necessary to come back to the theory and to brush up the knowledge regularly, as well as to analyze the new approaches to mechanical ventilation”, said Dmitriy Shukevich, head of the Department of Critical Conditions of the Research Institute for Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases, Chief Regional Anesthesiologist and Resuscitator. “To maximize the educational level of anesthesiologists and intensive care physicians, it was decided to perform a comprehensive educational cycle with clinical examples, discussion and active involvement of the audience which showed a great interest in the reports. Thus, within the conference we discussed a whole range of issues starting from the basis to the latest modes of mechanical ventilation used in 2018. I want to highlight that “Intensive Respiratory Therapy” topic is highly relevant right now, as the season of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections is coming, and artificial pulmonary ventilation will be in demand in patients with severe lung pathologies”.

Over 100 medical workers from Kemerovo, Leninsk-Kuznetskiy, Yurga, Mezhdurechensk, Novokuznetsk, Yekaterinburg and Moscow participated in the conference.
