The Laboratory of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pathophysiology of critical conditions
The Laboratory of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pathophysiology of critical conditions
The head of the laboratory is Dmitry Leonidovich Shukevich, Doctor of Medicine, the President of the public organisation "Association of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators of Kemerovo Region",the main specialist in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the Ministry of Health of Kemerovo Region-Kuzbass, Professor of the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of KemSMU, the member of the Committee of the Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators of Russia on methods of extracorporeal hemocorrection, an anesthesiologist and resuscitator.
The laboratory consists of 7 researchers, including one Doctor of Medicine, Professor of Russian Academy of Sciences, and one Candidate of Medicine. Postgraduates and applicants conduct dissertation research in the field of "anesthesiology and resuscitation" and "pathological physiology" which are among the topics of the laboratory scientific research.
The purpose of the laboratory is the prevention and early intensive treatment of critical conditions in patients with diseases of the circulatory system.
The functions of the laboratory:
- 1. The substantiation, development, experimental modelling and clinical testing of methods of personalised goal-oriented pharmacological and hardware-controlled protection of organs in cardiologic and cardiac surgery patients;
- 2. The substantiation of the strategy of anesthesiological, perfusion support and intensive care in patients with diseases of the circulatory system;
- 3. The improvement of the results of surgical treatment of children with CHD by optimisation of anesthesiological and resuscitation care, justification and development of rehabilitation measures during the postsurgical period;
- 4. The study of molecular and genetic pathophysiological mechanisms of critical conditions in cardiac surgery and cardialogic patients.
The main directions of scientific and practical activities of the laboratory:
- 1. The prevention and early intensive treatment of critical conditions in patients with diseases of the circulatory system;
- 2. The substantiation, development, experimental modelling and clinical testing of methods of personalized goal-oriented pharmacological and hardware-controlled protection of organs in cardiologic and cardiac surgery patients with multiple organ failure;
- 3. The substantiation of the strategy and tactics of anesthesiological, perfusion support and intensive care in patients with multifocal atherosclerosis;
- 4. The development, substantiation and implementation of pathogenetically justified methods for the prevention and treatment of multiple organ failure after surgical correction of valvular heart defects in conditions of artificial blood circulation;
- 5. The development of the strategy for the prevention and intensive therapy of persistent multiple organ failure;
- 6. Early diagnosis and prediction of the development of critical conditions.
The employees of the laboratory are the doctors of the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation of the Research Institute of Complex Problems of Cardiovascular Diseases. All types of modern anesthesiological and perfusion aids which are performed during heart and vascular surgery, the intensive therapy with the use of advanced world technologies in patients of all age groups are put into effect with their direct participation.
The staff of the laboratory directly participate in about 1,500 surgical interventions annually performed in the clinic of the Research Institute of Complex Problems of Cardiovascular Diseases in adult patients and children, on average about 30 procedures of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, about 200 of extracorporeal blood purification procedures, including modern technologies such as selective adsorption of endotoxin, renal replacement therapy with the use of hemodiafilters with the expanded properties.
